What we do:

Sunshine Café is a mom and pop coffee shop that serves the local community. Open from sunrise to sunset, Sunshine Café provides its customers with diverse coffee options. From different parts of the world where the sun shines the most, the coffee beans are grown in Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Sunshine Café providers consumers with diverse coffee options all day.

Logo and usage:

This logo was to represent the brand's use of different coffee beans that are grown all over the world from countries that have a lot of sun.  The logo is to be used in all representations of the brand as a symbol of what the company stands for.

Since the logo is made for such things as coffee cups and the store header, the size chart of logo should not be altered in anyway outside of its size chart.

The logo was made to be easily legible keeping consistency in shape. This logo is to always be altered in a circular dimension and not be altered in any way to obstruct the shape of the logo.

 

The logo was made to represent the sun and coffee. The colors of original logo should never be altered. If altered then logo no longer symbolizes Sunshine Café.

Color set:

This color template was chosen for the contrast of the yellow against the brown. Originally searching for a brown, this color drew in the eye due to the richness it brought when representing coffee beans. The particular template it came with was chosen since the yellow did not overpower the design, but was still bright enough to act alone to represent the sun.

Font Set:

The font used was American Typewriter which is a looser font that flows from one letter to the next compared to Serif fonts. The fun flow of the font represents the sun rays that dance in all different directions as well as the flow of coffee.  This font was chosen due to this flow but also the fact that it is still easily legible and more structured than script fonts.

Sources of inspiration:

Since coffee is the main focus of any coffee shop, something coffee related felt appropriate to incorporate into Sunshine Café's logo. Researching coffee logos, this coffee shop did just that by incorporating a coffee mug in the middle of its design. This was the inspiration for using a coffee mug in the middle of Sunshine Café's design. This logo also has provides a banner with their coffee shop's name.  Inspired by the banner idea, Sunshine Café's logo has an banner encompassing the sun to keep continuity and emphasize the importance of the sun.

Since the sun is a major factor in Sunshine Café 's brand, incorporating a sun into the design was essential. Not wanting the sun to overpower the look of the Sunshine Café's logo, the inspiration for the sun rays and circle effect was inspired by this coffee shop's design.  Though this design has three lines, Sunshine Café only has two. The inner circle representing the sun with the outer circle representing the rays making a halo effect.

This last design has an interesting dotted line that almost encircles its logo. This was the inspiration for the sun design of Sunshine Café. Not using this particular dotted line pattern, Sunshine Café's logo incorporates a thicker inner circle than the outer circle to make a difference between the two. This difference helps customers differentiate between the sun and the rays.

Another source of inspiration was this coffee mug picture that was used to help shape the coffee mug design. Not wanting a handle in the design to help with the circle continuity, this coffee mug outline was used as a baseline for the shape of the mug used in Sunshine Café's logo.
