Traveling more south than the rest of other coffee shops I have visited so far is a coffee shop located in the North Hills. Coffee Buddha is located right in the heart of Ross Township. I’ve only been there once before, years ago and can not remember anything about the place besides its location. This coffee shop being closer to my where I grew up made me excited to try something close.

Location: It was easy to find and follow Coffee Buddha on Google maps. The location was on a main road of Ross Township and was one of the last buildings on the left when traveling north to south. Coffee Buddha is a single house that has a parking lot in the front and back of the building. Adequate parking all around but for the rare reason that you cannot find a parking spot there is always street parking on the main road.

Rating: 5/5 …due to easy to find and adequate parking

Trick/Tip: I recommend trying to find a parking spot in the front of the building that way you have less walking since the front door is right there…you’re welcome

Ambience:

Light: There was a lot of natural light from the windows scattered throughout each room. Other lighting consisted of ceiling lights that were more noticeable around the counter area. The whole feel was a tad too dark because there was not a lot of ceiling lights that helped areas that were not around the counter area.

Rating: 3/5 …due to not a lot of lighting to help light up each room.

Trick/Tip: There are many areas to sit but I would recommend sitting near the counter if you are the type of person who likes a more lit area to work or sit in…you’re welcome

Seating: There were many different styles and types of outdoor chairs and tables in the front patio area. On the porch there were even more seating options that were diverse and fun to pick through. Once going inside, each room had its own table and chair arrangement and style. One room had comfy single chairs, the other room had a counter table, and the next had a random chair/table arrangement in the corner. However, there was not a lot of places to sit inside than there were outside.

Rating: 4/5 …due to diverse seating options but not enough inside seating.

Trick/Tip: Great place to go on a spring or summer day when you can sit outside…you’re welcome

Sound: There was no music that played in the background. There was a tv playing in one room but very faintly. Most of the noise came from the barista making the drinks and talking with the customers.

Rating: 3/5 …due to awkward background silence. Not enough noise to drown out conversations.

Trick/Tip: Definitely not a good place to go for a private conversation, but if you are hanging out with friends then this might be your place. If you want to do work in a quiet setting, then this would be a great place as well…you’re welcome

Inviting: The barista is very friendly and attentive to customers that walk in. Many people were at this coffee shop just enjoying their morning and one lady even brought her dog. Anywhere that allows dogs is a chill and inviting place in my mind.

Rating: 5/5 … due to friendly staff and chill customers

Trick/Tip: You can bring your dog inside the coffee shop. Does not get any better than that…you’re welcome

Drink/Food: Their coffee menu was diverse from all kinds of coffees and teas that some I have not even heard before. They had standard lattes to apple ciders to their regular brewed coffee. They had specials such as the apple cider and some pumpkin options. Their food menu consisted of just breakfast bakery goodies. The two things that I thought were unique were the selling of fruit (which is a great idea for a healthier option) and the selling of humus.

Rating: 4/5 …due to so many diverse coffee options and adequate breakfast choices. No real lunch foods though.

Trick/Tip: Great place for whatever kind of coffee you are in the mood for but maybe go for breakfast if you are interested in baked goodies...you're welcome

Overall, I rate this coffee shop 4/5. Coffee Buddha has great coffee and food options and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The only reason points were taking off were mostly due to the quiet atmosphere, darker look, and not many seating options if it is busy. However, this place is definitely a must try and I cannot wait to go back again.
