In a tiny little town called Harmony, right outside Zelienople, rest a little German coffee shop called Wunderbar. This place has a great reputation with the locals and seems interesting enough to try out for newcomers. Let’s see how it is.
Location: Find and following the directions on google map to Wunderbar was easy. Parking was tricky. There is a very small parking lot next to Wunderbar that fills up fast. So, there is a random parking lot in harmony that is off a road that runs perpendicular to the road where Wunderbar is located. Finding a spot here is sometimes tricky as well since there is no place to go and this is the only place to park in Harmony.
Rating: 3/5 …due to having a little parking lot next to the building and the spots are usually already taken
Trick/Tip: If you are meeting up with people I recommend carpooling due to the lack of parking options…you’re welcome
Ambience:
Light: Most lighting came from the hanging ceiling lights and a few windows in the front and one side of the coffee shop wall. The whole place was bright though and not one area was left in darkness.
Rating: 5/5 …due to adequate lighting that did not overwhelm you
Trick/Tip: The front tables located by the major windows gave the most lighting. If you like a lot of light, then try to sit there. If not, then sit anywhere else…you’re welcome
Seating: There were wooden tables with metal chairs along the one wall of the coffee shop. A little tight but well placed for the size of the room. The chairs per table differed due to the different table sizes. The tables seemed to be bigger as you walked toward the back of the room. If you did not want a table, there are counter chairs lined up next to the food counter toward the back of the room.
Rating: 5/5 …due to the diversity in options of the different tables and chairs to sit
Trick/Tip: If you are by yourself then the counter area is fun to chill to see how all the food is prepared, or if you are with a group then try to get the bigger tables in the back…you’re welcome
Sound: There was no music playing but with the busy atmosphere of the employees cooking and serving drinks, you really don't notice. It was easy to have a conversation with the people sitting at your table, but you could not hear the conversation happening across the room. A few tables are tighter together so hearing you neighbor’s conversation is possible.
Rating: 3/5 …due to no music and being able to hear your neighbor’s conversation
Trick/Tip: Do not go here for a private conversation but this would be a good place to go on a date, meet up with friends, or just go and do work
Inviting: The atmosphere had a busy feel. The employees were hard at work making the food or drinks that customers ordered. They would talk to one another and the customers. The customers were busy chatting with one another which gave it a community feel on top of the busy feel. They provided free WIFI with a password so this made you feel like you could stay as long as you needed.
Rating: 5/5 …due to very welcoming and loved how they gave the WIFI password
Trick/Tip: The WIFI password is right next to the main menu when you first walk in so grab it then before you sit down…you’re welcome
Drink/Food: They had a diverse of coffee options form regular coffee, lattes, iced, etc. Many flavor options were given to add to your coffee choice. They also had seasonal options such as pumpkin flavors and drinks. The food options were diverse as well. Many breakfast and lunch foods were listed.
Rating: 5/5 …due to many coffee and food options
Trick/Tip: Order first at the counter and then go pick a table to sit down after. Also, I recommend sitting in the middle to try and hear when your order comes out since they literally just ring a bell and yell your name when its ready. So sit near the counter where the food comes out so you don’t miss it.
Overall, I rate this coffee shop 4/5. This place was one of my favorites so far. It had good coffee options to choose from and a lot of food options as well. The parking and sound of this place brought the score down, but this is a must try place that I would love to visit again.
