Bulter county is such a big area, so shouldn't there be another coffee shop? Well, lucky for use, there is! This little gem, Pennie's Bake Shop and Espresso, is not on the main street but just a few minutes away.
Location: Pennie's Bake Shop was easy to find and follow on google maps. This coffee shop is located further back off of New Castle Street, slightly more on a side street. The parking lot is in the front of the building which was easy to access, but is shared with a business on the other side. This made the spots go fast creating it harder to find someone to park. If no spots are available then street parking is the way to go on the side streets.
Rating: 4/5 ...due to the parking lot being easily accessible but limited spots
Trick/Tip: Just prepare yourself to street park because there is very limited spots in the parking lot. Practice your parallel parking before hand...you're welcome
Ambience:
Light: The lighting in the room mostly came from the natural light through the windows with ceiling lights to help illuminate the rest of the room. The brightest room was the back corner room that had two full walls of windows.
Rating: 5/5 ...due to adequate light throughout the whole shop
Trick/Tip: Seating in the back room has the most natural light but this may cause a glare on your laptop so sitting in the front room is best...you're welcome
Seating: The seating consisted of wooden chairs and tables that were different heights. The tables that sat up higher were in the front room and the rest of the tables and chairs were lower and scattered throughout the front and back room. There were also outside seating on the front porch area. These chairs and tables were metal and had matching umbrellas at each table.
Rating: 5/5 ...due to adequate seating that was comfortable as well
Trick/Tip: If you are tall then you will like the higher tables in the front room...you're welcome
Sound: Most of the sound from the room came from the barista making the coffee drinks. Quiet chatter from the customs floated in the air as well as Oprah music that gentle hit your hears. The music was not classical coffee shop music but light Oprah music that fit the atmosphere of this cute little coffee and bakery shop.
Rating: 4/5 ...due to not playing the classic coffee shop music but still playing unique music that fit their atmosphere
Trick/Tip: The music was not loud enough to annoy you but if you get annoyed by small things in life then bring some head phones...you're welcome
Inviting: The baristas were friendly and knowledgable about their menu. They were willing to discuss the menu and provide suggestions to help customers decide on the perfect decision. They also were talking with one another and customers walking by. Customers were chatting with one another as well with casual conversations filling the room with a sense of comfort.
Rating: 5/5 ...due to friendly staff
Trick/Tip: No free WIFI but definitely a great place to go to hang out and drink coffee. If you want to go on a date then I suggest the back corner room that is more private than the main front room...you're welcome
Drink/Food: This coffee shop had the classical coffee shop drinks such as regular coffee, lattes, americanos, etc. and more specialized coffee options that are unique to this coffee shop such as their speciality lattes. This coffee shop is also a bakery. So, many baked goodies were displayed in a glass counter setting near the main register. Many different options such as cinnamon buns, muffins, scones, cookies, and cakes.
Rating: 4/5 ...due to diverse coffee options but not many other food options other than baked goods
Trick/Tip: The cinnamon buns are huge and super delicious if you love a good sugary treat...you're welcome
Overall, I rate this coffee shop 5/5. This coffee shop had a friendly atmosphere were the baristas engaged with one another and customers. The drink options were diverse and the baked goods made this place special. Parking was very limited in the parking lot and less than ideal for people that do not like street parking.
